Introducing…..New Airbnb Online Experiences!
Well folks…it doesn’t look like we’re going anywhere anytime soon. As the COVID-19 cases are increasing (and Americans aren’t welcome into most countries) we may be staying home a little longer. There’s only so many creative things you can do to be socially distant (believe me, we’ve tried them all). If you’re anything like us, you’ve been dying to get out and do things again but I have some good news! I’ve found a way to responsibly do it! Airbnb Online Experiences! If we can’t go experience other cultures around the world, then the next best thing is to bring them into our homes!
So you know here at World Citizens, we’re big fans of staying at Airbnb’s whenever we travel and booking Airbnb experiences. It’s always a great way to get a feel for the place that you’re visiting and seeing the city/town through the eyes of a local. It helps us get out of the tourist zones and immerse ourselves in the culture. We’ve taken bike tours, cooking classes, horseback rides, you name it!
New Way to Travel
Even though international travel may not be happening for a while, Airbnb came up with a new way to travel and curate unique experiences. Introducing…..the new Airbnb Online Experiences! They have a range of activities that you can choose from! From painting classes hosted by someone in Portugal to Vegas style interactive magic shows and everything in between. You can search for the most popular experiences, by your interests, and the languages offered. Learn how to make authentic Mexican cuisine from someone in Mexico from your own kitchen and follow along with a Balinese yoga instructor to manage your stress during these crazy times! There are endless experiences! The classes are pretty affordable ranging from as little as $5-$100 depending on the activity. These can be great activities for date night or a virtual group hangout with friends!

If you’re a person who has a talent, consider hosting an experience. It’s an easy way to share your talents with others while making some money on the side! Don’t discount what you’re good at. You never know who wants to be better at it or enhance that skill.

Yea I thought this was genius! They have so many cooking classes. If you like Portugese food they had someone in Porto teaching you how to cook seafood and someone from Mexico showing you how to cook authentic Mexican. Anything you want…it was on there!
I have been meaning to explore this side of Airbnb. Like you, when my fiancé and I travel we try to choose Airbnb stays and also give ourselves at least a few days in one area when traveling. Airbnb and staying in a town/place long enough for it to start feeling familiar let’s us truly experience another culture and dive deep. This slow travel truly allows for an intimate experience contrasting with the traditional tourist experience. Until we can travel again, these experiences may allow us a similar glimpse into other cultures and fulfill our need to travel (while being stuck at home). Will have to try it.

Isn’t it amazing, all the different ways we have found to travel and engage without even leaving the house? I’ve checked out a few virtual experiences via the tourist board websites for various countries, never thought to look at Air b n b . I’ll have to check it out!
